How About a Joke Today? que tal uma piada hoje?

How about a "joke" today? ....que tal uma piada hoje?

A guy drives up to (até) the curb (meio-fio) and asks the policeman, "Can I park here?" (posso estacionar aqui?) The police man say, "No". so the guy asks, "Well, what about all these other cars?" (E estes carros todos aí?) The cop says, "They didn't ask!" (eles não me perguntaram!).
I must admit this isn't a good joke! However, remember that, in English, a joke is always told in the Present Simple. Reading jokes on the web is a fantastic way to improve your vocabulary skills as well as your knowledge of the Present Simple. You can read thousands of jokes in English on www.comedycentral.com/jokes/index.jhtml
When someone tells a joke you can laugh or not. You can use some of the expressions below to say what you think about the joke.If the joke is really funny you can say: What a riot! (Muito engraçada!)·
What a scream! (Muito engraçada!)·
What a hoot! (Muito engraçada!)·
That's too much! (Essa é boa!)·
That's hilarious! (Muito engraçada!)·
That cracked me up! (Essa foi muito boa!)·
That really tickled me! (Essa foi muito boa!)
If you don't understand the joke, you can say:
I don't get it! (Não entendi!)·
That went over my head! (Essa eu não entendi!)
If you have already heard the joke you may say:
I've heard that one already. (Eu já ouvi esta antes.)
If you don't think the joke is funny you'd better say·
That's pretty silly. (Essa é muito bobinha.)·
That's lame. (Que podre. / Que horror.)·
That's ridiculous. (Que ridículo.)
If the joke is offensive you say:·
That's in poor taste. (Esta é de muito mal gosto.)

Before telling a joke (contar um piada) you'd better ask if people heard about it already. To do so, say:· Did you hear the one about...? (Você já ouviu aquela do/da...?)Now practice a lot! Learn some jokes by heart (de cor) and tell them to your friends.
